All I'm saying is if the Tigers wouldn't trade Porcello for Roy bleeping Halladay, why would I want to hear that they traded him for a soon-to-be 31 year old (re: not young) outfielder who has no business holding a glove?

Maybe I am overestimating Dombrowski, that's always possible. You're vastly underestimating Porcello, and there's no way at all that this deal makes sense.

Porcello should have gone to Arizona for Haren. Porcello + Oliver + some other prospects the Tigers have is a much, much better package than Joe ****ing Saunders, two mediocre prospects and one good one.

Probably selling hotdogs @ Marlins Stadium.

No such thing as "cant miss". Tons of guys have had "potential"(Kerry Wood/Mark Prior anyone) and what happened to those guys?

I think you're overestimating Dave Dombrowski. We'd have enough $$$ @ the end of the season to sign Dunn, and a few others, to lt deals. I'm not saying it's a "Dunn" deal(sorry), but, if the Tigs can bring him in, and sign him to an extention before the season ends, that'd be sweet, and well worth the "potential" of Porcello, IMO. Not many young lh of's out there with the pop Dunn has.
lets get 2 things straight:

#1 - Dunn is 31. not young.

#2 - Dunn is not a LF in the AL. in fact hes not even a LF in the NL anymore. hes a DH. maybe you could play him at 1B but hes still an atrocious defender.

so after a great rookie season (3rd in RoY voting FWIW) and 1 below average season, you are ready to label him a bust? no one gets labelled a bust in their 2nd season. nobody! not even jamarcus russell was a bust yet in his 2nd season. ryan leaf wasnt a bust yet in his 2nd season. matt bush was not a bust in his 2nd season. but youre saying rick porcello, who has had the best career so far out of any of those players, is a bust in his 2nd season? that is absurd.

Porcello is nopt an "ace", like someone here suggested...he's a good young arm, w/mechanics problems. Verlander is an Ace...Porcello, not so much.
it is entirely different when someone invests a lot of money in a free agent, as in a person that has a track record of performing, and when they invest 6million in a high schooler who they hope to hopefully build a team around.

god, why do people have such little patience with prospects/young players....

****, Brandon Wood had like 4 seasons to prove himself and he's finally being labeled as a bust.

I remember Brady the Impaler calling Beckham a future .250 hitting replacement level player earlier this year. LOL

When the roster's not working and the Yankees would trade him, it makes perfect sense. Mike Maroth and Humberto Sanchez were as highly regarded as Porcello is now, and look how they turned out. Best to get rid of the guy now for pennies on the dollar and save the city of Detroit a lot of heartache.

......or he could be the next josh beckett. thats the thing with prospects, no gurantee.

TBH, the tigers screwed porcello early on. the guy should have spent 1.5 if not 2 full seasons in the minors.
