Default No Pick Up for Cards

Well guys it doesn't look good for us card fans. The Roy Oswalt trade don't look pretty for us. And No other rumors has really surfaced for us. It look as if the Cards are going too stay put and not make a trade this off season . My opinion is if we don't get more of a consistent starter before trade deadline and we depend on suppan and hawksworth you might as well just hang it up for a playoff push.

im not sure where your getting the 2-3 week baromter from. He made a Triple-A start yesterday and was pretty good. 43 pitchers, 30 strikes. i'd say he is 2 or 3 more starts away from re-joining STL.

besides, we have a lot of off days in August so it isn't impossible to go with a 4.5-man rotation for a while.

If Lohse can come back and be atleast serviceable, we can float a fifth man in when needed. Obviously we'd like to have another top of the rotation type, but it's not looking very promising at this point. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Oswalt. I just dont wanna see us give up everything Houston wants.

We don't necessarily need an ace, but we need a starter that is an upgrade over who we have now. I suppose Lohse COULD be that upgrade, but that's a pretty risky assumption. I would not be opposed to making a deal for a number 2 or number 3 starter right now (Fausto Carmona, anyone?). If we can swing Oswalt, great, but if we are still thinking long-term as well, perhaps someone like Carmona would be a better fit.

We might as well assume Penny is probably done for the season. Based on the reports I've been reading, he hasn't even been throwing recently. I'd really like to know how bad Penny's injury really is.

Im not saying we need another ace. Again I would love too hear that the cards are going after Carmona. I have not heard any rumors about the cards having any interest in him. The latest I heard so far is Westbrook,Hernandez. But I do feel from what Mo said last night that we are not out completely of the Oswalt trade. I just think its all a waiting game for all the gms and houstons Gm to try and get more than Oswalt is worth but as saturday comes near the asking price for Oswalt may come down. But too be honest I am leaning more and more for a push for Carmona than Oswalt.

I like the idea of Carmona coming to STL but I don't think there has been any talk of it.

Here's his contract with Cleveland:

2010 - $4.9 mil
2011 - $6.1 mil

Then there are club options.

2012 - $7 mil
2013 - $9 mil
2014 - $12 mil
