Default Fixing the Amateur Draft

You can see my comment on this article. If we want to restore any semblance of competitive balance and preserve MLB in dying markets, we must fix the draft.

Any thoughts?

I think allowing draft picks to be traded is the first thing, along with getting rid of Super Twos, one way or the other (as in, set it to 3 or 4 years of arbitration, no matter what).

Going to a hockey style, continuous ownership of the players rights would be a better system.

Or at least make the players declare for the draft, thus forgoing their NCAA eligibility. That way scouts also have to be more honest with the players or they won't declare at all.
